Hue & Seek — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 27 September 2026

Hue & Seek is a multiplayer hide-and-seek game for iOS and Android. It is operated by Samofy Limited ("we", "us"), which is responsible for the data described in this policy. This policy explains exactly what the app handles. We do not sell your data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

What the app collects

DataWhyWhere it goes
Anonymous player ID Required to join a multiplayer room and to keep a match session alive. Unity Gaming Services (Authentication, Lobby, Relay), provided by Unity Technologies. Not linked to your name, email, Apple ID, or Google account. Unity Authentication keeps the ID for as long as it is needed to provide online play, or until you delete it (see "Deleting your data" below), and then deletes it according to Unity's retention schedule. It is only created when you first play online; Solo matches do not use it.
IP address Technically required to route match traffic between players. Processed by Unity Relay and Lobby to establish the connection; they may derive an approximate region from it to pick the nearest server. Unity Relay keeps the IP address and player ID for 30 days. Unity Lobby does not store the IP address; the player ID in its logs is kept for up to 30 days. Not stored by us.
Game progress (rounds played, wins, catches, survived hides, win streaks, best camouflage score) To show your own statistics. Stored only on your device. On iOS, if you enable Game Center, your score may be submitted to Apple's leaderboards under your Game Center nickname. On Android, statistics never leave the device.
Anonymous usage statistics To understand how the game is played so we can improve it: how many people play each day, how long sessions last, whether players come back, and which maps and modes are played (for example "match on map X ended, hunters won"). Google Analytics for Firebase, provided by Google. It uses a random app-instance ID created on your device (not your name, email, Apple ID, Google account, or advertising ID), basic device information (model, OS version, language, app version) and an approximate country/region derived from the IP address. Advertising features, ad personalisation and the advertising ID are switched off, and the data is never used for advertising. Google keeps detailed event data for a limited time and then only in aggregated reports.

Clip capture (iOS only, off by default)

The app can record the last few seconds of your own screen so you can share a moment from a match. This is off until you turn it on in the main menu, and iOS shows its own permission prompt the first time it runs. The Android version has no clip capture.

What the app does not collect

Children

Hue & Seek is made for players of all ages, including children. It has no ads, no in-app purchases, no chat, and never asks for a name, email address, photo, or any other personal detail. It does not use the advertising ID or any hardware identifier (such as IMEI or MAC address), and it never requests location permission.

To run online matches, the same limited data described above is processed for every player, including children: the anonymous player ID and the approximate region Unity Relay and Lobby derive from the IP address to pick the nearest server. This data is used only to make multiplayer work — never for advertising, profiling, or tracking. Players cannot send messages to each other; other players see only your painted character and your in-game actions.

The anonymous usage statistics are the same for every player, including children: no personal details, no advertising ID, advertising features off, and nothing is shared for advertising or used to build a profile of a child.

A parent or guardian can ask us to delete the anonymous player ID at any time (see "Contact" below).

Deleting your data (Hue & Seek)

In the app (instant):

  1. Open Hue & Seek and stay on the main menu (scroll to the bottom of the menu if needed).
  2. Tap Delete My Data, then tap it again within 4 seconds to confirm.

Your on-device statistics (rounds played, wins, best camouflage score) are cleared straight away. If you have played online, your anonymous player ID is also permanently deleted from Unity Gaming Services (Authentication); this part needs an internet connection. The app-instance ID used for usage statistics is reset at the same time, so later statistics can no longer be connected to earlier ones. If you are offline, the app still deletes the on-device data, keeps only the sign-in token needed to find that same player ID, and asks you to connect to the internet and tap Delete My Data again — the same player ID is then deleted from Unity. Your next online match simply starts with a brand-new anonymous ID.

Solo matches do not connect to Unity Gaming Services at all, so you can also avoid any online processing by playing Solo only.

By email: write to support@samofy.co.uk with the subject "Hue & Seek data deletion". Because the player ID is anonymous we cannot look it up for you, so the in-app button is the reliable way; we will help if it does not work for you.

What is kept: we keep nothing. Connection logs that Unity Relay and Lobby create while you play online (IP address and anonymous player ID) are held by Unity and deleted within 30 days (see the table above). They are linked only to the anonymous player ID, never to your name or any account. Uninstalling the app also removes all on-device data. On iOS, Game Center scores are managed by Apple and can be removed in your Game Center account settings.

Third-party services

The app uses Unity Gaming Services (Authentication, Lobby and Relay, provided by Unity Technologies) to connect players, Google Analytics for Firebase (provided by Google) for the anonymous usage statistics, and on iOS optionally Apple Game Center for leaderboards. They receive only the data described above and use it solely to provide their services to the app, and they are required to provide the same or equal protection of user data as stated in this policy. Their own privacy policies also apply:

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this same address with a new date at the top.
